CIP Tools
Effective 14 September 2026. This notice explains how CIP Tools handles personal data when you use this website, the support form, My CIP, or CIP Network Tool cloud services.
Who is responsible
CIP Tools is responsible for the processing described in this notice. For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, contact support@cip.tools.
It covers cip.tools, support requests, My CIP accounts and the cloud features of CIP Network Tool. Third-party websites, including GitHub release pages, have their own privacy notices.
Data and purpose
When you create or use a My CIP account, we process your email address, authentication information, account plan, and the commands, profiles, device records and usage totals you choose to synchronize. This is used to provide sign-in, cloud sync, account security, plan administration and support.
When Encrypted Profile Password Sync is enabled, saved profile passwords are encrypted on the CIP Network Tool client using AES-256-GCM before synchronization. The cloud database stores encrypted ciphertext, not the readable password. The Cloud Vault Password and the unencrypted vault key do not leave the client.
If recovery is enabled, the Recovery Key is generated and displayed locally only; it is never uploaded to CIP Tools. Store it safely offline. If both the Cloud Vault Password and the original Recovery Key are lost, encrypted profile passwords cannot be recovered. If you regenerate the Recovery Key, the previous key stops working.
The support form processes your name, email address, application, version and message so we can respond and resolve the request. Please do not include passwords, recovery keys or other sensitive secrets in a support message.
The website may record aggregate page views and download clicks. It stores the page path, event type and the referring domain only. It does not intentionally store IP addresses, cookies, email addresses, account IDs, full referrer URLs or a cross-site visitor identifier.
My CIP may use browser storage needed to keep an authenticated session on your device for the selected session period. This is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Legal basis and sharing
We process account and cloud data to provide the services you request, support information to respond to your request, and limited operational/security information for legitimate interests such as protecting the service, preventing misuse and maintaining it safely.
We use service providers where necessary to operate the service, including Supabase for authentication and cloud data. Download links may take you to GitHub. Providers process data under their own applicable terms and privacy documentation.
CIP Tools does not sell personal data and does not use personal data for targeted advertising.
Retention and rights
Account and synchronized cloud data are kept while the account is active and are removed when the account is deleted through the application, subject to technical backup cycles and any legal obligations. Support information is retained only for as long as reasonably needed to handle the request and maintain support records. Aggregate analytics is retained only for operational reporting.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to certain processing. Email support@cip.tools from the relevant account address. We may request reasonable information to verify the request.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. If this notice changes materially, the effective date will be updated on this page.
